I'm rambling now, but I just think it's great how the showrunners didn't just make Lewis a cardboard cutout villain. They're both offered a way out and refuse, because they think they have to do things their way. Of course Jessica Jones isn't a murderer like Lewis is, but they're both blinded by PTSD. Lewis should have listened to Curt, but he tries to hold onto an ideal he needed to give up and kills dozens in the process. Jessica should have let Simpson assassinate Killgrave, but she tries to force him to confess and dozens more die instead. Honestly, it reminds me a lot of Jessica Jones and the way she handled Killgrave.īoth Lewis and Jessica are offered help by people all around them, but neither can accept it. None of this mitigates how horrible his actions were, but he's a victim of circumstance. The blame isn't on Curtis-its shared by Lewis and the old guy-but Curt certainly didn't help that situation. Curt told him the old guy was a non-combat fraud, which lead to his death. Lewis was an excellent soldier, but a terrible civilian, and he became suicidal from the minute Billy refused to hire him. You and I can see Curt's actions for what they were: gestures of help and friendship, but to Lewis? Curt kept him from getting the one job he could actually feel useful in. Oh yeah, what he did was inexcusable, but come on. Shitposts will not be removed however we will laugh at you.
